Really useful for visualising VBM results

The new version of the NeuroPub app has quickly turned into my main tool for visualising VBM results. I'm not even using a visualizer on the computer to view the results anymore. It's much more convenient to use the iPad. I just store the results on the Dropbox, open the Dropbox app on the iPad and then import the images to NeuroPub. Once I have all the results in my image list, it's so easy to jump between images.

There's obviously more things that could be done to simplify this procedure, like built in Dropbox support in NeuroPub. But this is really a good start.

Version 1.1 is now available

I'm happy to announce that the new version is finally available on App Store. Free, as always!

If you want to encourage the future development of NeuroPub, please rate it. Your App Store review matters!

Version 1.1 submitted

The new version is finally submitted. Here are the new features:
  • Support for compressed NIfTI (nii.gz).
  • Import NIfTI images from other apps on your iPad (like Safari, Mail, Dropbox, etc). This means you don't have to import through iTunes anymore.
  • Delete feature. You can now delete images.
  • Hide/show cursor.
  • Change colour map.
I did not include support for Left-to-Right coordinate system in this version. I thought about it, but adding it now would only delay this release even further. I will include it in v1.2 instead. This means you still need to make sure your images have exactly the same coordinate system as the 2x2x2 standard brain that comes with FSL and SPM.

I will let you know when the new version is available.

Next version

It's been over a year since I last posted something on this blog and I haven't had the time to work on NeuroPub either during this time. I did submit an abstract for OHBM2011 but I didn't get the opportunity to go. I've also been on parental leave for the last six months (which was really a great time). But the plan has always been to continue the development and version 1.1 will hopefully be released really soon. It will have the following three features:

  1. Support for compressed NIfTI (nii.gz).
  2. You should be able to open NiFTI files from another app (like Mail or Dropbox) and load them into NeuroPub.
  3. The current version forces the orientation of the images to be in Left-to-Right format. I will try to implement so it does not really matter. I hope this feature will be added to v1.1.
